In one of the world’s democracies, the ballot boxes have spoken and the message is clear. All the reactions following the result, especially from men, too. Why react? What does this have to do with me? My gender as a person. Among the reactions, I was particularly shocked by a video shared on social media where a man celebrated the results of this presidential election in his own way. Watch and listen instead:
Here is the transcript of the video with a French comment:
Hey bitch, we control your bodies.
Guess what, guys win again.
You will never control your own bodies.
Your body, our choice.
Cet influenceur masculiniste célèbre le score de Trump le soir de l'élection présidentielle américaine.

The feel when you're totally not pressed.
The feel when we control your bodies.
Hey bitch, we control your bodies.
Guess what, guys win again, okay?
Men win again.
And yes, we control your bodies.
Hi, I'm your Republican Congressman.
(Laughs)
Hi, I'm your Republican Congressman.
It's your body, my choice.
And men win again, men win again.
They will never ever be a female president.
Never, they will never be a female president ever.
It's over.
Glass ceiling, dude, it's a ceiling made of fucking bricks.
You will never break it.
Your stupid face keeps hitting the brick ceiling.
We will keep you down forever.
You will never control your own bodies.
You will never be the president of the global empire.
Never gonna happen, sweetie.
Your body, our choice.

Enough is enough! And so I decided to take my keyboard and write a few words to share my indignation and express my deep concern as a woman. I am not American. I am French but I feel concerned, touched by what has just happened in the United States. I take the results of this election as a slap in the face, worse a punch in the stomach. In the 21st century, men are still not ready to elect a woman president. If only women had voted, Kamala Harris would have won the election, …but there are also men in the electorate.
And then, beyond the result, the reaction of men raises questions. Of all men. I typed 3 letters m, e, n on the keyboard. I wonder if the word is correct, if it is adequate. Indeed, the clear and distinct results in favor of candidate Donald Trump and then after results to witness such a display of toxic masculinity, stinking virilism, nauseating behaviors, destructive for half of humanity, is that being a man in the 21st century? Obviously, this does not bother enough men. It suits them politically en masse. If little male voices “not me” are raised, next to them, the other voices are clearly in the majority!
The election of Donald Trump is politically convenient for men, en masse.

Hence the fact that I feel concerned because we find this problem in many countries in the world, France included. So, if men came with their hand on their heart, “not me, I’m nice”, well, it would change absolutely nothing for us, women. This kind of situation has happened many times in the past, such as women obtaining the right to vote, to become full citizens. My first personal reaction is therefore: “you’re making fun of us, absolutely all of us, but not in the same way!” You claim to love us, to respect us. And yet a majority of voters (exclusively male) in a democratic country, the third most populated country in the world, prefer to vote in full conscience for an openly sexist, racist, homophobic candidate: what should we understand?
All the assessments or inventories can be made on sexism; we can scream our pain with the hashtag #meetoo; actions (half-measures?) on gender equality can be put in place; but ultimately we can objectively affirm that it is therefore… hot air, smoke and mirrors, a hoax. Many women, not just me, are therefore humiliated, ridiculed, despised. Congratulations! Indeed, you have won! What exactly? Our silence, our renunciation, our submission? Certainly not. Our anger, our determination, our response, certainly. Who are we to you? Now, the answer is clear and scathing. The masks are falling. We are worthless. We are not people. We are nobody. Oh yes! For men in power, I found: incubators for future males, preferably? For those men who will have the reflex to answer in the negative, the history of events shows that this is an affirmation.
So forget the Superman costume, the Zorro cape or Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber! Also forget your lower appendage. Instead, think about using your head and your heart, if you have any, and nothing is less certain. If I love my husband and am happy with him, I can write without mistakes and cry out in pain: you don’t deserve us! If you listen and interpret these words as misandry, it is your responsibility, not mine! Besides, I do not thank you for feeling this factual dissonance.
Please note that whatever you can do, you must understand gentlemen that you can only repair, rehabilitate sexist injustices. You will never be able to erase them because these male violences perpetrated against women in the context of the construction of living together within a society are an indelible stain for eternity. For example, the fact that women had to fight hard to obtain all their rights; among them: the right to education, the right to contraception, the right to abortion, the right to vote, which are still far from being acquired in all countries of the world and which are greatly threatened everywhere where they have been acquired at least once.
So, gentlemen, I ask you: how, under these conditions, can we consider building a relationship of trust, a professional relationship, a relationship of friendship, a romantic relationship? How can we take responsibility for becoming a mother, a question written by a mother of two children? How can we trust men? Do I even have the right to feel bad about listening to men talk about demographic rearmament? How dare you, gentlemen, either ask for it or let men have this possibility?
So, once again: yes, all men! Shame on you!
